Top Dogs and Their Pets has been a book of passion for David Woo and has driven him from the East coast to the West coast in planes, cars, and taxi's over the last four years. David has been a pet lover all his life and his passion for animals and the desire to see more animals saved from cruelty lead him to the Cesar and Ilusion Millan Foundation, as beneficiary for the book. The Foundation is designed to aid and support the rescue, rehabilitation and placement of abused and abandoned dogs all over the United States. "After watching Cesar Millan’s show and reading his books, I knew that his foundation would be the best beneficiary of this book,” says Woo. “I wanted to take the love people emanate for their pets in this book and use it to help animals across the country.”

The book's foreword is written by Diane Rehm. Diane is a public radio talk show host with her own program, The Diane Rehm Show, which is distributed nationally and internationally by National Public Radio and attracts more than 2.2 million listeners across the country each week. Rehm is also a successful author of two autobiographical books: Finding My Voice (Knopf, 1999), in which she describes her childhood, marriage, career, and voice disorder; and Toward Commitment: A Dialogue about Marriage (Knopf, 2002), a deeply personal book co-written with her husband, John. Diane is a pet lover and can been seen in the book with her long-haired Chihuahua, Maximillian.

The “Top Dogs” highlighted in the book include Nobel Peace Prize winner Dr. Alfred Gillman, actor Owen Wilson, former First Lady Barbara Bush, Texas Rangers’ President Nolan Ryan, philanthropist Trisha Wilson, television personality Dr. Phil and National Cowgirl Hall of Famer Anne Marion. As well as many other notable people like Steve Miller, Isaac Mizrahi, Ron White, Cesar Millan, George W Bush, Kinky Friedman, Roger Horchow, Tony Dorsett, and many others. Woo’s goal for his collection was to capture the character of each individual interacting with their pet. In addition to photographs, the book includes a heartwarming Q & A with each subject where the “Top Dog” shares anecdotes about their relationship with their pets and what makes them so special.
